Chasing and Repoussé workshop with Cathy Sutherland

Learn the ancient techniques of chasing and repoussé in this one-day workshop at Studio Budgie Galore with jewellery designer Cathy Sutherland. This class is a great introduction to working in copper sheet, learning how to create low relief designs in metal.

With guidance from Cathy, you will learn how to heat the pitch to set your flat sheet of metal. You will then learn how to shape and form the sheet metal using specialist punches and a hammer to achieve a more three-dimensional piece. Finally, you will learn how to saw pierce out your finished shape.

This is an introductory workshop to a specialist technique and may not result in a finished wearable piece of jewellery. With practice this technique could be used on many jewellery designs including pendants, earrings, brooches and rings.

All materials are included in the cost of this workshop. Tea, coffee and cake are also included.
The workshop is fun and informative, no previous experience is needed but is also suitable for those with previous jewellery and metalworking experience who want to develop their skills.
