Who are our classes suitable for?

Our 2 week fold forming course is suitable for complete beginners or those who have made jewellery previously and are looking enhance their skills. The course is a great way to see if you enjoy making jewellery and try your hand at this organic hammer forming technique.

Over the 2 weeks we introduce you to the workshop, tools, equipment and cover health and safety. You will learn a range of traditional jewellery and silversmithing techniques including heating, fold forming, texturing, embossing, filing, polishing and finishing.

What will you make?

Initially you will experiment with copper to produce a range of samples and test pieces. You will then use some of these to develop further into finished pieces of jewellery, such as pendant, earrings or brooch. You will be shown several ways to finish the copper to highlight the texture and pattern.

Our jewellery making facilities:

We have a well-equipped traditional jewellery workshop with a good variety of machinery and hand tools. We also have a good selection of specialist tools. Students work at their own individual jewellery bench, we have separate soldering areas and larger communal workbenches.

What’s included?

All materials are included in the cost of this course. Tea and coffee are also included.
The workshop is fun and informative, and no previous experience is needed. Small class sizes ensure individual tuition from your qualified experienced tutor.
