Weekly classes
Join us to make jewellery, learn new skills, create beautiful things, and have fun with like-minded people!
Who are our classes suitable for?
Our 6-week classes welcome all skill levels, from beginners to experienced makers. Students complete projects independently with tutor support, progressing at their own pace.
For beginners, we cover health and safety and basic jewellery-making techniques in your first class. In week 2, you have the option to create a silver ring, and you can expect to produce several pieces of jewellery throughout the 6-week period.
If you have more experience, we will support you with challenging projects to help achieve your goals. We can help you to design your own jewellery and even help you to create collections for sale. You can learn advanced techniques in our one-day workshops and 3-week taster courses; these offer a chance to learn a new skill for ongoing practice in weekly classes.
What will you make?
Students generally start by crafting smaller items such as rings, bangles, pendants, brooches, and earrings. With increased experience, they progress to creating larger pieces including bowls, spoons, Christmas decorations, wedding jewellery, and gifts. Our weekly classes teach saw piercing, soldering, forming, texturing, polishing, and basic stone setting techniques. Students typically work in silver, copper and brass but you can also work in gold if you wish.
Our jewellery making facilities.
We have a well-equipped traditional jewellery workshop with a good variety of machinery and hand tools. We also have a good selection of specialist tools. Students work at their own individual jewellery bench, we have separate soldering areas and larger communal workbenches.
The cost
Our weekly classes cost £180, which includes consumables such as saw blades, solder, and other sundries, into our pricing. Tea and coffee are also included. Materials are purchased in addition -as a guide you can expect to pay about £5-10 on materials for a simple silver ring, £15-20 for a silver bangle.
Over 6 weeks we would expect you to make 2/3 pieces depending on how complicated and detailed your designs are. You can stay within budget by creating smaller pieces in silver or using more affordable materials like copper and brass for larger pieces. Everyone pays for what they use. Materials and findings are available for you to purchase in class. We also advise on suppliers.
How to join
You can book online via the website or please get in touch if you’d like to talk about joining a class, please email or call. Our 6-week classes can also be purchased as a gift, we can create a personalised gift voucher for you.
